"The Libertarian Alternative" television show has the best Libertarian communicators translate our message into an easy to understand conversation.

Real people talk on various Libertarian issues in as pleasant an atmosphere as possible. Reaching nearly all of California, and large segments of New York, Oregon, Arizona and Minnesota the show broadcasts mostly during prime time hours in order to catch as many "channel flippers" as possible. Some of them may not look for to long, but some of them may stop and listen -- and hear some things they like. A well-produced show can reach hundreds or thousands of people each week by broadcasting on Public Access, government and educational channels. Putting on this show is an activity we can do in a community to increase our visibility -- and is the best bang for our activist buck.

I received your telephone message about public access. As you know, we are broadcasting a mix of your shows and our shows here in Phoenix. The data shows us getting about 10,000 viewers per week. Our county voter registrations are growing at +10% annually in part due to this show. This growth rate is greater than any other political party or Libertarian county affiliate in Arizona. We are the only county party in Arizona with a public access show. Unfortunately, the other county chairs do not see it as a priority.

Among our IDLP 2004 Convention speakers/workshop leaders was Mark Selzer. A state LP Vice Chair from California, Mark produces a weekly libertarian news show that is distributed by libertarian activists and broadcast on television stations around the USA. Our convention-goers were inspired to donate the money right then and there to get this started in Idaho. Gordon Wilmoth volunteered to take the lead and make it happen.

Dear Libertarian Party members,

Thanks to all of you who generously supported our TVTV project. Many thanks to those of you who pledged to support this project with monthly contributions. At our convention in July, many of you dug into your wallets to provide funding to buy recorded tapes from Mark Selzer to be aired on public access television.

Because of your support, our first show will be aired Monday October 11th, at 9:30 p.m., and the following Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. This will be the weekly schedule for airing our shows ­ Monday evening, followed by Tuesday morning. The first show is Mark Selzer interviewing Michael Badnarik, our presidential candidate. For those of you who have Cableone, the shows will air on channel 11.

I’ve watched these tapes, and they are very professionally produced, and the material is great. You will be proud to tell your friends and family about these shows. I’m proud to be part of this effort. I’m proud of our party for making the commitment to this effort. I think you will be too. Although I’ve already viewed the tapes, I will be marking Monday evenings at 9:30 on my calendar. If you like, you can tape these shows and share them with your friends who don’t have access to Cableone.

Most of you who know me probably don’t think of me as a very excitable guy ­ they call me Eor (the ass, I mean donkey, from Winney the Pooh) at work. But I’m excited about these shows. They really draw you in.

Our purchase of Mark Selzer's tapes includes the rights to broadcast anywhere in Idaho. He encouraged us to grow our library and show the tapes in as many tv markets as we can. Those at the convention gave enough money on the spot to get this program started and buy 6-month's worth of tapes. There are two things you can do to support this project.

1) Work with your local 'public-access' TV station to have weekly tapes broadcast in you market

2) Donate money to keep this project running beyond its currently funded 6-months. Please contact Gordon Wilmoth for either or both of these.
